Clara Campoamor arrives in Madrid From her Argentinean exile to find out if she will be able to return to Spain. During her anxious wait, she visits the places in Madrid that have most marked her life, such as the neighbourhood of her childhood, her lawyer’s office (she was the first registered lawyer in Spain, along with Victoria Kent) and the Ateneo. The Central Post Office building takes us to San Sebastián, where she worked as a telephone operator. The most important, however, is the Palacio de las Cortes. She was a member of Spain’s parliament and one of the writers of the Republican constitution. Thanks to her sheer determination, she managed to obtain recognition for women’s suffrage —a historic landmark of gender equality.
