Richard Linklater
American filmmaker born in Houston in 1960. With 25 feature films under his belt, he holds five Oscar nominations, two Golden Globes and two BAFTAs. Founder of the Austin Film Society in 1985, after making his debut in 1988 with ‘It's Impossible to Learn to Plow by Reading Books’, filmed in Super 8, he burst onto the international scene with ‘Slacker’ (1990), followed by works such as ‘Dazed and Confused’ (1993, selected at Locarno), the Before Trilogy (‘Before Sunrise’, ‘Before Sunset’, ‘Before Midnight’), ‘Waking Life’ (2001, awarded in Venice), ‘School of Rock’ (2003), ‘A Scanner Darkly’ (2006, selected at Cannes), 'Boyhood’ (2014, Best Director in Berlin), ‘Apollo 10 1/2: A Space Childhood’ (2022), ‘Blue Moon’ (2025, Best Supporting Actor in Berlin) and ‘Nouvelle Vague’ (2025), premiered in the Official Selection at Cannes.
