- The program will open in April with the Short Film Development Laboratory, organized in collaboration with the European University Miguel de Cervantes (UEMC)
La Meseta Lab was created as an innovative platform dedicated to film creation, development, distribution, and dissemination, offering a space for training and continuous support for filmmakers and producers. Throughout the year, it will provide support for projects in development, advice on distribution and sales strategies for post-production works, as well as growth opportunities for programmers and film critics.
This initiative, co-financed by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Sports of the Regional Government of Castilla y León with funds transferred by the Ministry of Culture for the promotion of laboratories and incubators for the creation and development of audiovisual projects, aims to promote emerging talent from Valladolid, strengthening the connection between creators and industry, as well as reinforcing the role of SEMINCI as a cultural catalyst at the regional, national and international level.
The first action promoted by La Meseta will come to fruition in April 2025 with the launch of La Meseta. Short Film Development Laboratory, a program that will encourage the creation of eight film projects. Along with the Regional Government, the European University Miguel de Cervantes (UEMC) has joined this project.
La Meseta‘s three main lines of action
La Meseta is structured around three key pillars that will benefit three different groups: emerging filmmakers, distributors, programmers, and critics. The first pillar focuses on the creation and development of projects, for which advice will be offered to enhance their viability. The second axis covers distribution, sales and new audiences, while the third area will be dedicated to curatorship and dissemination.
This program of film laboratories is configured thanks to this triple objective as a meeting point between creativity and industry, establishing a working model that accompanies the selected projects and enhances their connection with international markets, amplifying their impact and scope. With this program, SEMINCI becomes an active agent in promoting an ecosystem of collaboration between filmmakers and the industry with institutions, film schools, and professional associations.
Without losing sight of the pedagogical aspect, the workshops included in La Meseta will be complemented with educational lectures given by professionals aimed at both filmmakers and the public.
