Specialists from both sides of the Atlantic will discuss the debate that in 1550 pitted Bartolomé de las Casas against Juan Ginés de Sepúlveda over whether the Indigenous people of America were fully human and therefore deserving of the same rights. The panel will be composed of Alejandra Trelles, director of the Uruguay International Film Festival and artistic director of the Uruguayan Film Library, and Víctor J. Vázquez, professor of constitutional law at the University of Seville, and will be moderated by philosopher José Manuel Chillón Lorenzo.
