Ana faces her approaching death without fear, and among her final concerns is the request that her beloved cow, Miranda, be fed — a gentle creature named after the historic city of Trás-os-Montes (Miranda do Douro), symbolizing a lost unity between humans and nature, where the celestial and the earthly, the new and the ancestral intersect.
