In the mythical land of El Dorado, cities are made of gold and men cover their bodies in golden robes. This is the story of Pedro de Ursúa, the handsome young captain of the expedition. This is the story of Lope de Aguirre, a megalomaniac Basque conquistador who was seeking what he had never found in his life: peace. This is the story of Elvira, Lope's daughter; of Doña Inés de Atienza, the most beautiful woman in Peru; and of the Indian Uiracuru, the expedition guide. This is the story of 300 men who pledged their estates and their souls to descend the greatest and least known river in the world.
