Irene Moray is a photographer and filmmaker. In 2012 she moved to Berlin, where she directed her first fiction short film, BAD LESBIAN, which received awards such as the ALCINE Audience Award and the Jury Prize at the F.i.S.H. Festival in Rostock. After four years in Germany, Moray decides to return to Barcelona where she writes and directs SUC DE SÍNDRIA (Watermelon Juice), premiered at Berlinale Shorts and selected at TIFF. The short film has garnered more than 100 selections and 30 awards, including an EFA nomination and the Goya Award for Best Fiction Short Film. She is currently writing her first feature film: “Sealskin”. The project has been workshopped at Torino Script Lab 2022, where it won the Eurimages award, the Spanish Film Academy Residencies 2021 program, by the Faberllull Residency, Torino Feature Lab, where it won the Post Production Award and by the Filmmakers Lab of the Toronto Film Festival 2020, where the project was awarded the TIFF Filmmakers Lab Fellowship. As a photographer, her work has been published and commissioned by outlets such as I-D, Dream Magazine, Impossible Projects and she’s worked by brands such as Reebok or Fujifilm. She recently directed a music video for Spanish pop star Rigoberta Bandini, produced by CANADA as well as a commercial campaign for the Spanish Ministery of Equalness.
