Letty, an innocent young woman, moves from her native Virginia to West Texas to live with her cousin Beverly, who grew up with her. The wind, incessant and threatening, greets her with the same coldness as Cora, her cousin's jealous wife, and tensions in the family soon arise, while several men stalk the young woman.
Victor Sjöström
Sjöström's masterpiece, one of the great classics of silent cinema, will be screened accompanied by the score created in 1983 by Carl Davis for the film. “Written for string orchestra and percussion, it has a relentless and penetrating impact that only these instruments can convey. With a vast list of assorted percussion, it gives you the tangible sensation of that sandy grit in your ears that’s impossible to get rid of,” said orchestra conductor Timothy Brock about this work. The OSCyL will be conducted by Germany’s Christian Schumann, who made his debut in Spain in 2023 at the concert screening programmed by Seminci together with the OSCyL featuring the film ‘The Kid Brother’, starring Harold Lloyd. Schumann has directed major projects at the Krakow Film Music Festival and has recorded soundtracks for films and video games with ensembles such as the London Symphony Orchestra and the Philharmonia Orchestra.
