- TVE will broadcast the Closing Gala live on La 2, held at the Calderón Theatre, followed by the premiere of Siempre es invierno
Tomorrow evening, from 20:00, the Calderón Theatre will host the grand closing of the 70th Valladolid International Film Festival (SEMINCI). After eight days celebrating the finest auteur cinema, award-winners, honourees, jury members and guests will walk the red carpet outside the Calderón Theatre, weather permitting.
The evening’s ceremony will be hosted by Elena Sánchez and Llum Barrera, with live music from La La Love You, who will bring sparkle and entertainment to the night while introducing the award recipients and the team behind It’s Siempre es invierno, the film closing this landmark 70th edition. Director David Trueba will be joined on stage by the cast—David Verdaguer, Isabelle Renaud, Amaia Salamanca, Carla Nieto, Jon Arias, Alba Ribas, Ana Miñana, Elsy Gómez and Vito Sanz—alongside producers Edmon Roch (Ikiru Films) and Rosa Pérez (Atresmedia Cine).
Earlier in the evening, from 18:30, guests will be welcomed by Jesús Julio Carnero, Mayor of Valladolid, and Blanca Jiménez Cuadrillero, Councillor for Tourism, Events and City Branding, together with José Luis Cienfuegos, Director of SEMINCI.
Other attending dignitaries include Isabel Blanco, Vice President of the Regional Government of Castilla y León; Jacinto Canales, Deputy Government Delegate; Mar Sancho, Deputy Minister for Cultural Action; Víctor Alonso Monte, Vice President of the Valladolid Provincial Council; Raquel Alonso, Territorial Delegate for Valladolid; Irene Carvajal, Councillor for Education and Culture; Inmaculada Martínez, Director of Cultural Promotion; Antonio Largo Cabrerizo, Rector of the University of Valladolid; David García, Rector of UEMC; and Rebeca San José, Vice Rector for Communication, Culture and Sport at the University of Valladolid.
Among the attendees will also be actors Ivana Baquero, Rubén Ochandiano, Fernando Cayo, Isaki La Cuesta, Álvaro Cervantes and Ángela Cervantes; filmmaker and producer Albert Serra; director and producer Nata Moreno; artist Alondra Bentley; and journalist Gonzalo Miró.
This 70th edition has left behind unforgettable moments and films to remember. Filmmakers, actors and producers of the titles presented during the festival, including Carla Quílez, Ezequiel Salinas, Montse Triola, Abbas Fahdel, Camellia Ibrahim, Nour Ballouk, Ramiro Sonzini, Octavio Bermote, David Pablos, Fernando Franco, Norma Canda, Jakob Ladányi, Candela Sotos, Pedro Pincho, Lucía Aleñar, Joel Alfonso Vargas, María Ruido, Vladlena Sandu, María Herrera López, Federico Viroj, Gabriel Azorín and Laura Camino, will attend the ceremony and red carpet. Also in attendance will be four of the directors nominated for the European Short Film – Vimeo Prix 2026, whose shortlist was announced at SEMINCI by the European Film Academy: John Smith, Sara Rajaei, Miranda Pennell and Djiby Kebe.
The festival’s outstanding reputation owes much to the excellence and insight of its juries. Walking the red carpet this year will be several members of the Official Section Jury, including Serge Toubiana, João Pedro Rodrigues and Elena López Riera; from Meeting Point, Ivette Liang, Federico Luis and Adrián Orr; and from Time of History, Feyrouz Serhal and Alexander Horwath. Among other jury representatives attending are Giuseppe Sedia (FIPRESCI), Yuri Ancarani (Alquemies), Begoña Arostegui (Short Films), José Manuel Rodríguez (Green Spike), and Yolanda Rodríguez and Karu Borge (Rainbow Spike).
The evening will also welcome the festival’s sponsors, whose support makes SEMINCI possible: Miguel Sanz, Managing Director of the DO Ribera del Duero; Jorge Luis García Vázquez, President of Fundos; and José María Viejo del Pozo, Managing Director of Fundos.
