  • The partnership facilitates visits to the festival by international film programmers, journalists and jury members, helping to raise the international profile of Spanish cinema and create new opportunities for the circulation of films and their professionals.

The 71st Valladolid International Film Festival (SEMINCI) once again benefits from the support of Acción Cultural Española (AC/E), through its Programme for the Internationalisation of Spanish Culture (PICE), to promote the dissemination and international profile of Spanish cinema.

This partnership makes it possible for festival programmers, jury members and journalists from international media outlets to attend the festival, where they can discover a selection of Spanish films first-hand and meet their creative and technical teams. The initiative helps strengthen the presence of Spanish cinema on the international circuit, encourage professional exchange and create new opportunities for distribution, screening and promotion in other territories.

This year, SEMINCI will welcome Dennis Lim, Artistic Director of the New York Film Festival and a member of the Official Section jury, which offers an overview of contemporary world cinema; Maximiliano Cruz, Artistic Director of FICUNAM and a member of the Meeting Point jury, the competition dedicated to fiction films that encourage open dialogue with audiences and stand out for their thematic or stylistic qualities; Cíntia Gil, associated with DocLisboa and a member of the Time of History jury, the section dedicated to non-fiction; and Cyril Neyrat, Artistic Director of FIDMarseille and a member of the Alchemies jury, the festival section devoted to works that explore innovation in the language of cinema.

Also taking part will be Bettina Hirsch, a German journalist and presenter, and Rasha Hosny, an Egyptian film critic, programmer, producer and script editor, both members of the FIPRESCI jury, which presents the award of the International Federation of Film Critics; and Aleksandra Ławska, a Copenhagen-based film programmer and member of the Short Films jury, which will assess works under thirty minutes in the international competition, open to all genres.

The presence of these seven professionals will help bring Spanish cinema to key figures in international film programming and media, encouraging the discovery of new voices and works, as well as the establishment of links between the Spanish film industry and international markets.

PICE is an initiative by Acción Cultural Española designed to promote the internationalisation of Spanish culture by supporting the mobility of professionals and the presence of Spanish creators and projects in international cultural settings. Through its visitor and mobility grant schemes, the programme helps connect Spanish cultural professionals with international organisations and industry figures, broadening their opportunities for exposure and collaboration.
