The UVa Route is an itinerary of ten screenings and meetings at different SEMINCI venues and sections, offering students an opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of the festival and learn first-hand about the filmmaking process from the directors themselves in post-screening discussions.
This activity is organised by SEMINCI in collaboration with the University of Valladolid through the Buendía Centre, in an effort to allow interested young people to reflect on the films with the help of great filmmakers who are open to sharing their extensive experience and knowledge, with a programme designed by the festival team.
The programme for the route has been put together by the festival's head of programming and lecturer, Javier H. Estrada, who will give a master class to registered students before the start of the festival, in which he will present the different films as an introduction to the cycle, creating a much more enriching educational experience for those attending.
This route will consist of ten films accompanied by discussions, always in the afternoon, between Friday 24th and Friday 31st October. Among the titles scheduled are notable feature films from this year's programme, such as Mad Bills to Pay, selected at the Sundance, Berlin and Jeonju film festivals, where it won the award for best film; Memory, winner of the Audience Award at the Giornate degli Autori in Venice; and The Souffleur, starring Willem Dafoe.
