Without archives, there is no memory. Audiovisual heritage is a source of knowledge and creativity for the construction of our collective memory. To mark National Audiovisual Heritage Day, celebrated on October 27, DOCMA, the Spanish Documentary Film Association, is organizing a gathering of professionals from the film industry, archives, associations, and public and private institutions to share experiences, recognize the progress made in recent years, and address from a constructive perspective the challenges still posed by access to and the reuse of archives in film production and, specifically, in documentary film. A space to explore and share proposals for improvement so that audiovisual heritage can be an effective source of creativity, knowledge, and memory. Participants will include: Almudena Cruz, Deputy Director General for the Dissemination of Democratic Memory; Marian del Egido, Director of the Carlos Saura Center for the Conservation and Restoration of Film Collections (Spanish Film Archive); Eduardo Fernández, Director of Corporate Services at RTVE; Alberto Pascual, Director and member of the DOCMA Archives Working Group; moderated by Irene Cardona, Filmmaker and President of DOCMA.
