Il vangelo secondo Matteo

Inspired by the ‘Gospel of Matthew’, chosen by Pier Paolo Pasolini for being the one that foregrounds the human side of Christ instead of his divine aspect, the director filmed a poetic and passionate illustration of the life of Jesus in a neorealist style, from the annunciation to the Virgin Mary until the resurrection and subsequent encounters with his disciples.
