Felipe, a young volunteer, arrives at a thatched cottage or ‘bohío’ lost in the hills somewhere in Cuba. It is 1961, in the middle of the Literacy Campaign. To his surprise, the peasant family is atypical in more than one way. Perplexed, Felipe does not know what to do: his boss, Rigoberto, is very strict, and if he returns to report , he will have it in for him...
