MERCI Valladolid presents itself as a unique market in Spain dedicated to promoting independent cinema. Organised jointly by the Valladolid International Film Festival and ADICINE, MERCI Valladolid acts as a key meeting point, bringing together more than 120 professionals in its latest edition, including programmers, exhibitors and distributors. With the participation of the fifteen main distributors in the country, all partners of ADICINE, MERCI Valladolid presented twenty-five films in 2023, thus facilitating their future screening in commercial theatres of titles like ‘There’s Still Tomorrow’, ‘The Taste of Things’, ‘The Zone of Interest’ or ‘Anatomy of a Fall’.

 
Between October 23 and 25, MERCI Valladolid is programming twenty-two of the most anticipated releases in Valladolid’s Broadway multiplex, all scheduled to hit theatres at the end of 2024 and throughout 2025. The screenings are exclusively for the 140 invited professionals in order to maximize the titles’ circulation and promote a better exploitation in the run-up to their release. Within the framework of the Independent Film Market, several presentations and round tables will be held around the new tools for promoting commercial film distribution. Moreover, as in the previous edition, the MERCI 2024 Award will be presented to a prominent personality for his or her contribution to independent cinema.

 
At the closing of the previous edition of this event, Adicine co-presidents Lara Pérez-Camiña and Enrique Costa expressed their gratitude for Seminci’s support for an initiative that, in their view, «has been confirmed as the main event for distribution and exhibition in the Spanish territory». «MERCI has demonstrated its capacity for connecting and transforming the independent film industry and the best proof of this is the initiative’s growth edition after edition», they noted at the time.
