Ghahreman

He was born in 1972 in Isfahan (Iran). At the age of thirteen he shot his first short film in a youth film club before studying Drama at the University of Tehran and graduating in Stage Direction from the Tarbiat Modarres University. In 2003 he premiered his first feature, ‘Dancing in the Dust,’ which won awards in Fajr and Moscow. A year later, ‘The Beautiful City’ was ranked as the best film at the Warsaw Film Festival. After that, ‘Fireworks Wednesday’ (2006) was awarded in Chicago and ‘About Elly’ won the Silver Bear for Best Director in Berlin. With ‘A Separation’ (2011) he won the Golden Bear, the Golden Globe, the Cesar and the Oscar. In 2013, the protagonist of ‘The Past’, Bérénice Bejo, was dubbed best actress at Cannes, and in 2016 ‘The Salesman’ won the awards for Best Actor and Best Screenplay in the same festival. In 2018 he filmed in Spain ‘Everybody Knows’, which received eight Goya nominations, while thanks to ‘A Hero’ (2021) he won the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival.
