In America

Without a penny in their pockets, an Irish family emigrates to the United States and settles in a dilapidated New York building inhabited by drug addicts, drag queens and all kinds of motley characters. Parents Johnny and Sarah try to turn a setting that looks rather like a gothic horror movie into a real home. While they see America as a weird place full of challenges and dangers their young daughters, Christy and Ariel, see the new environment as a magical place where anything can happen, a place that could free them from all the suffering they carry on their backs.
