Everyone knows Karlos Arguiñano. He has been part of our lives for almost forty years, teaching us how to cook on television while winning over audiences along the way. But do we really know him, or do we simply think we do? This film offers an intimate look at Karlos, taking us into his most private spaces as well as into situations outside his usual routine. By listening to him and to those closest to him, the film sets out to discover the person behind the public image.
Arantxa Aguirre
Born in Madrid, she earned a PhD in Spanish Literature and has worked with filmmakers like Camus, Almodóvar, Saura or Berlanga, among others. She made her directorial debut with ‘Hécuba. Un sueño de pasión’, nominated for a Goya Award in 2007, and in 2009 she participated in this same section with her award-winning documentary ‘Of Heart and Courage: Béjart Ballet Lausanne’, before winning Time of History’s second prize in 2016 with ‘Dancing Beethoven’ (also nominated for the Goya, Forqué and Platino awards and released in commercial theaters in six countries) and returning to the Festival in 2018 with ‘El amor y la muerte. Historia de Enrique Granados’ and in 2020 with ‘Zurbarán y sus doce hijos’. ‘Un tal Karlos’ (2026) closed the Zinemira section of the San Sebastián Film Festival. She is a member of the Image Arts section at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando.
