After suffering a sexual assault, Gaia must live with the emptiness, confusion, and invisible wounds that alter her relationship with the world and with herself. Through her friendship with an archaeology professor and the support of her father, she discovers how trauma reshapes her life and the people around her.
He was born in Girona in 1975 and studied screenwriting at the Centre Calassanç in Barcelona, where he was a disciple of filmmaker Joaquim Jordà. During his early years as a filmmaker, he directed remarkable short films such as ‘Sabi’ (2005), ‘Desde el balcón’ (2005), and ‘Els peixos del riu Leteo’ (2005), which won the award for best screenplay and direction from the Elsa Peretti Foundation. In 2007, his first feature film, ‘Pas a nivell’, was selected for festivals such as Rotterdam and San Sebastian, among others. His second feature film, ‘La Lapidation de Saint Étienne’ (2012), won the Fipresci award in Valladolid. In 2014, he released ‘La fossa’, selected in Seville, Las Palmas, and D’A, and in 2015, he returned to competition at Seminci with ‘The Invisible Artery’, also selected in Tallinn and Montreal. In 2018, he directed El vent és això, and ‘When a River Becomes the Sea’, his sixth feature film, premiered at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival, where Àlex Brendemühl won the award for best actor for his performance.
