France, 18th century. At the dawn of the French Revolution, the prestige of a noble house hangs above all on the quality of its table. When the talented chef Manceron is sacked by the Duke of Chamfort, he loses his taste for cooking and decides to return to his home in the countryside. There he meets the mysterious Louise, who restores hispassion for cooking and helps him to open the first restaurant in France.
