Collaboration with universities

Activities aimed at students interested in delving into the creative process and the artistic context of current cinema through dialogues with creators and guided itineraries through the programme of each edition.

Thinking about cinema at SEMINCI

THINKING ABOUT CINEMA AT SEMINCI is SEMINCI’s space for reflecting on cinema and the world (or the world through cinema), made up of a series of meetings featuring key figures from the current film scene who will present the premieres of their new films at the festival. The cycle of meetings aims to become a place of enrichment and exchange open to all, delving into the creative process, promoting knowledge of the art of film, bringing the voice of key filmmakers to the SEMINCI audience.

The creative processes will play a fundamental role in the meetings, exploring the innovative forms and artistic crossroads faced by the cinema of today.

The dialogues with the directors will be guided by members of the festival’s programming team, all of whom have extensive teaching experience, which will provide the sessions with rigour and knowledge, both about the filmmakers themselves and their work, as well as the context in which it is presented.

UVA Route

The UVA Route is an itinerary of screenings and meetings at different venues and sections of SEMINCI, offering students an opportunity to get to know the festival in depth, and to understand first-hand the filmmaking process from the filmmakers themselves in talks after the screenings.

This activity is organised by SEMINCI in collaboration with the University of Valladolid, in an effort that allows interested young people to reflect on the films with great filmmakers who are open to sharing their extensive experience and knowledge, in an activity designed by the festival team.

The programme of the route is prepared by the festival’s head of programming and professor, Javier H. Estrada, who will give a master class prior to the start of the festival to registered students, in which he will present the different films as an introduction to the cycle, generating a much more enriching didactic experience for the attendees.
