A biography of Jorge Luis Borges working from an exhaustive review of the papers he left, the books he read, the places he went to. And with this, an attempt to decipher a very peculiar life: someone who lived like a hidden, underground warrior, whose cause was literature, literature conceived as a kingdom and as a landscape. If Cold War spies fought from their desks or from an uninhabited house to defend their half of the world, Borges strove from a library to elevate and broaden the territories of his own tribe: the people for whom the most important part of the universe is books, plots and words.
Mariano Llinás
Born in Buenos Aires (Argentina) in 1975, he is not only one of the decisive filmmakersof the second wave of the New Argentine Cinema but also of the contemporary international scene. His career, absolutely free, literary and musical, spans twenty five years from ‘Balnearios’ (2002) to ‘Life of Jorge Luis Borges’(2026), premiered out of competition at the Venice Film Festival. His adventure films (huge and novel-like) ‘Extraordinary Stories’ (2008) and ‘The Flower’ (2018) were screened at various festivals around the world, winning awards and renown. With ‘Corsini interpreta a Blomberg & Maciel’ (2021), he won second prize in Seminci’s Time of History section, and with ‘Clorindo Testa’ (2022), he won the Special Jury Prize at the Turin Film Festival. Together with Laura Citarella, Alejo Moguillansky and Agustín Mendilahárzu, he runs the production company El Pampero Cine.
