The film tells the story of the encounter between a woman and a city, Beirut, in order to explore how the spaces we inhabit relate to us, and reflect on building's destruction and preservation when being spaces of collective memory. This film is more than just a portrait of Beirut; it is a vital, sensory and existential journey through a city that has transformed itself and survived cycles of destruction, perhaps like each of us, who rebuild and transform ourselves based on what happens to us.
Irene Bartolomé
A filmmaker, producer and editor born in 1988 in Barcelona and based in Beirut (Lebanon). She holds a BA in Film Editing from ECAM Film School, a Master's degree in Creative Documentary from Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona, and an MA in Film and Screen Studies from Goldsmiths, University of London. She was also a collaborative fellow at UnionDocs Center for Documentary Art in Brooklyn, New York, during 2014–2015. She founded Lemu Helu, a production company based in Barcelona, to support unconventional films and artistic projects. She directed the short film ‘Lunch Time’ (2017) and, together with visual artist Tessa Rex, ‘The Williamsburg Houses’ (2016), before making her feature film debut with ‘Dream of Another Summer’ (2026), which had its world premiere at CPH:DOX.
