A sound like something out of this world wakes Jessica, a British botanist living in Colombia, at midnight. She embarks on a journey into the heart of the jungle in search of the source of this noise that only she seems to hear, and there she finds a man who holds all the memories of the place.
Apichatpong Weerasethakul
A filmmaker, screenwriter, and producer born in Bangkok, Thailand, in 1970, he is recognized as one of the most original voices in contemporary cinema. His feature films, short films, and installations have earned him widespread international acclaim and numerous awards, including the Palme d'Or at Cannes in 2010 for ‘Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives’. With ‘Tropical Malady’ (2004) and ‘Memoria’ (2021) he won the Cannes Film Festival Jury Prize, and ‘Blissfully Yours’ won the Un Certain Regard award in 2002. ‘Syndromes and a Century’ (2006) was recognized as one of the best films of the first decade of the 21st century in several polls, and ‘Mysterious Object at Noon’ (2000), his first feature film, was restored by Martin Scorsese's World Cinema Foundation. Author of the image for the poster of the 71st Seminci, he has also mounted exhibitions and installations in many countries since 1998 and is also recognised as a major international visual artist.
