A group of American female tourists embarks on a European tour, planning to visit one capital city per day. Upon arriving in Paris, they realize that the airport is exactly the same as Rome's, the roads are identical to those in Hamburg, and the streetlights bear a striking resemblance to those in New York. In short, the scenery is virtually unchanged from one city to another. Since they can't truly experience Paris, they settle for spending twenty-four hours with real Parisians, including Monsieur Hulot.
Jacques Tati
Mime, actor, screenwriter, and filmmaker, born in 1907 and died in 1982. Although he only directed six feature films, he is considered one of the great masters of 20th-century visual comedy. He debuted as a director with ‘Jour de Fête’ (1949), which won the Best Screenplay award at the Venice Film Festival. He then created his most famous character in ‘Monsieur Hulot's Holiday’ (1953), which earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay. With ‘My Uncle’ (1958), he won the Special Jury Prize at Cannes and the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. His most ambitious work, ‘PlayTime’ (1967), premiered in Spain at the Seminci Film Festival and was a commercial failure that nearly ruined him, although today it is recognized as a masterpiece. He closed his filmography with ‘Trafic’ (1971) and ‘Parade’ (1974), and in 1977 he was awarded the Honorary César Award.
