In a remote village high in the Turkish mountains, the return of an exiled clan reignites a decades-old land dispute. Dormant resentments resurface and Mesut, the local leader’s brother, is seized by unsettling visions believed to be divine warnings. As religious convictions, power struggles and tensions surge in the community, will they move toward tragedy or salvation?
Emin Alper
Born in Ermenek, Turkey in 1974, he studied economics and history at Boğaziçi University in Istanbul and has a PhD in Turkish modern history. His debut feature film ‘Tepenin Ardi’ (‘Beyond the Hill’, 2012) received numerous awards including the Caligari Film Prize at Berlinale Forum and Best Film at Asia Pacific Awards. His second film, ‘Frenzy’ (2015), premiered in competition at the Venice International Film Festival and won the Special Jury Prize. . In 2019, he returned to the Berlinale’s official competition with ‘A Tale of Three Sisters’, which also competed in the Official Selection at Seminci.
