A very diverse group of terrorists who participated in the Spanish Civil War on the Republican side, set up a complicated plan to steal money from the Bank of Spain to destabilise General Franco’s regime. Some ingenuous people from Madrid take part in the plot, led by some rather mysterious and shadowy foreigners. At the same time, the police and citizens who collaborate with the authorities follow the trail of the plotters’ mistakes.
Ana Mariscal
A filmmaker, producer and actress born in Madrid in 1923 and died in 1995. She made her film debut by chance, after accompanying her brother to an audition for 'Amore di ussaro''(Luis Marquina, 1940), and the following year she starred in 'Race', directed by José Luis Sáenz de Heredia, establishing herself as a star of Spanish cinema. In 1952, she founded the production company Bosco Films together with her husband, the photographer Valentín Javier García-Fernández. She made her directorial debut with ‘Segundo López’ (1953) and went on to direct a dozen films, including ‘Con la vida hicieron fuego’ (1957) and ‘El camino’ (1963), the first film adaptation of Miguel Delibes’s novel, the restoration of which was featured in the Cannes Classics section at the French film festival in 2021. She appeared in more than fifty films, worked in theatre and television, wrote and taught acting, and her entire career earned her the Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts in 1994, shortly before her death.
