Bergen, 1948. Kamilla is a seven-year-old girl growing up in a city scarred by the aftermath of World War II and in a family on the brink of collapse. Her parents, consumed by their own problems and conflicts and with an ever-present obsession with money, neglect her. Kamilla finds support and friendship in Svein, a boy her own age. Together they navigate a world dominated by reconstruction, the black market, family tensions, and the moral decay of adults.
Vibeke Løkkeberg
A Norwegian actress, director and prolific novelist, born in 1945 in Bergen. She made her debut in 1971 with the medium-length documentary ‘Abort’, which two years later led her to take part in the First International Women’s Film Seminar, organised in Berlin and regarded as the world’s first feminist film festival. There she filmed the footage that, decades later, would become 'The Long Road to the Director’s Chair' (2025), which premiered in the Forum Special section at the Berlinale. In 1977 she released ‘The Revelation’, her feature film debut, and her filmography includes ‘Løperjenten’ (1981, selected for the Cannes Critics’ Week and winner of the Norwegian Critics’ Award) and ‘Hud’ (1986), screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Film Festival. Her documentary ‘Tears of Gaza’ (2010) won the Gold Prize at the Gaza Film Festival and the Human Rights Award at the Al-Jazeera Festival. In 2015, she received the Amanda Honorary Award for her contribution to Norwegian cinema.
