Chelo and Marta are sisters, and their lives are about to change forever. That summer, an unexpected event will shake the family to its core and bring ghosts from the past back into the present. What seemed like an unbreakable bond will be put to the test, forcing them to face a painful dilemma: how far are they willing to go to protect those they love most, even if it means breaking away from part of their own family?
Ione Hernández Sáenz
She holds a degree in Journalism from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), studied Communication at Michel de Montaigne University (Bordeaux), has a Master’s degree in Film Directing from Chapman University, and completed a screenwriting course at the International Film and Television School in San Antonio de Los Baños (Cuba). She has directed and written several short films that have enjoyed international recognition, such as ‘Aizea, City of the Wind’ (2001), ‘Juego’ (2007) and ‘El palacio de la luna’ (2008), named best short film of the year by 'Cahiers du Cinéma'. Her feature-length documentary ‘1% Schizophrenia’ (2007), produced by Julio Medem, was released in cinemas. For the past five years, she has been the coordinator and tutor of the Master’s degree in Film Directing at the EFTI (International Centre for Photography and Cinema) in Madrid, and she runs film workshops for students from disadvantaged areas of Latin America as part of the San Sebastian Film Festival’s ‘Gipuzkoa Coopera’ programme. Her debut feature, ‘Sisters’ (2026), had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.
